Learnt piano from age 6, organ from age 14, No formal exams taken. Organist in 3 Rugby churches 1970-78, Choirmaster & organist St Matthew's Rugby 1978-82,
In full-time C of E ordained ministry 1985-2012.
On organist team Rustington Parish Church 2012-present.
Experience in non-liturgical and liturgical worship, with and without choirs, and playing organ in worship bands, with orchestral and amplified instruments (guitars, keyboards) and percussion.
I do not believe in the prevailing English attitude that organ and 'band' are incompatible.
I am no good at transposing or improvising more than a couple of bars, but am quite a good sight-reader.
I have a passion for bringing out the meaning of hymns, and people regularly comment on it (favourably!)
